Q. In South Korea, is there specific case where reduction can be applied in official fee when paying patent/utility model/design annuities or registration fees?

A. For a foreign entity, the reduction in official fees for either Small-size Entity or Midsize Entity CANNOT be applied. However, for a foreign individual person, the reduction in official fees can be applied if the owner is a foreign person and is also the inventor/designer (that is, the inventor/designer(s) and owner(s) are the same).official fees can be applied.

For the individual registrant who is also the inventor/designer, the current reduction rates are 70% at the time of registering, and 50% at the time of paying the annuities. To apply for such reduction, no evidentiary material is needed.
