Q. In South Korea, how many months before the expiry date can the renewal application for a Korean trademark registration can be filed?  

A. The renewal application for a Korean trademark registration can be file one (1) year before the expiration date.

<Example>

If the expiration date of a Korean trademark registration is 20 March 2022, then the renewal application can be filed from 21 March 2021.

Article 84 (Application to Register Renewal of Duration of Trademark Rights)

(2) An application to register the renewal of the duration of trademark rights shall be filed within one year prior to the expiry of the duration of trademark rights:
