Q. In South Korea, when is the next renewal due date for a Korean Trademark Registration?

A. The next renewal due date for a Korean Trademark Registration is every ten (10) years from the registration date, on the condition that the paid official fee covers the 10 years.

<Example>

If the registration fee that covers ten (10) years is paid and registered on 20 March 2002, the next renewal due date is 20 March 2012. If renewed by paying the official fee for another ten (10) years, the next renewal due date is 20 March 2022.

Article 83 (Duration of Trademark Rights)(1) The duration of trademark rights shall be 10 years from the date of registration and establishment thereof pursuant to Article 82 (1).

(2) The duration of trademark rights may be renewed for another 10 years by filing an application to register the renewal of the duration.
